Crossovers are quite hip among younger parents who want to eschew the stereotype of minivan ownership. These lifted hatchbacks provide the right amount of capacity and functionality, and they're often marketed towards growing families. BMW's crossovers are as kid-friendly as any other automaker's, although a new recall may give some owners pause before setting out on a family roadtrip. BMW is issuing a recall for 188,670 X3 and X4 crossovers in the US. Globally, some 622,000 vehicles are affected.
